The seeds in strawberry quartz are iron. The pink-to-red color and the tiny dark flecks that make it look like a sliced berry come from microscopic crystals of iron minerals, mostly hematite, caught inside clear quartz as it grew. In the late 1800s, quartz reddened by hematite from the iron mines of Cumberland, England, went by the name scarlet quartz.
The strawberry quartz meaning is sweet, joyful love: a stone for feeling cherished, for self-worth, and for letting a little lightness into the heart. Glass copies are sold under its name too, and three signs give them away.

Love with a lighter touch
Rose quartz is the quiet, soft pink of tender love. Strawberry quartz is the brighter, more playful pink, and its meaning follows that warmer color.
Joy. Its berry color is linked to lightheartedness, fun and remembering to enjoy the good days.
Self-worth. Many people wear it as a reminder that they deserve to be loved and noticed, just as they are.
Romance. As a heart chakra stone with a red-pink glow, it's a favorite for new love and the giddy early days of a relationship.
Why a Venus stone belongs to Libra
Strawberry quartz belongs to the heart chakra in the center of the chest, the energy center of love and openness. Its sign is Libra, ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, a natural fit for a pink love stone. Its element is water, the element of feeling.
Where strawberry quartz fits
- A gift for a new relationship or an anniversary
- A self-love bracelet for days you need reminding
- A cheerful piece for summer, when its color feels right at home
- A friendship gift, sweeter than plain pink
- A companion to rose quartz, for love with a little more sparkle
A sweet chip bracelet
Wear it. Our stretchy strawberry quartz crystal chip bracelet strings small chips of strawberry quartz on a stretchy band, an easy bracelet to stack with our rose quartz crystal chip bracelet or clear quartz crystal chip bracelet.
A sweet-spot list. Before bed, hold your strawberry quartz and name three small things from the day you genuinely enjoyed. Even a good cup of coffee counts. Wear the bracelet the next day as a reminder to look for three more.
Three signs of a glass copy
Its popularity means imitations are common. Here's what to look for.
Natural strawberry quartz is usually soft pink to red, often a little cloudy, with tiny red specks, threads or dark flecks scattered inside, never perfectly even.
Cherry quartz is a trade name for glass. It's often bright, clear and evenly colored, sometimes with swirls or round air bubbles. It warms in your hand quickly, where quartz stays cool.
Dyed quartz shows its color gathered along cracks, with clearer stone between them. And there's no such thing as green strawberry quartz: a green stone sold under that name is something else.
Strawberry quartz with rose quartz, clear quartz and watermelon tourmaline
Rose quartz is its gentler pink sister, and together they cover love from soft to sparkling (rose quartz guide). Clear quartz is strawberry quartz with nothing caught inside, and many people set it beside a pink stone to strengthen an intention (clear quartz guide). Watermelon tourmaline is the other fruit-named heart stone, pink rind and all (watermelon tourmaline guide).
For more pink heart stones, see our heart chakra crystals, and for Venus's sign, our Libra crystals.
Caring for strawberry quartz
Strawberry quartz is a 7 on the Mohs scale, tough enough for daily wear, though a hard knock can still nick the edge of a chip. Sunlight won't fade its color. Water won't harm it, so a quick rinse and a soft cloth are enough. Dry the stretch cord well and keep it away from lotions and perfume.
Leave it on a windowsill on the night of a full moon to refresh it, fitting for a water stone, since the moon rules the tides. Quick care facts for every stone we carry are in our crystal care chart. Every crystal in our shop is smudged with sage and charged in the moonlight before it ships.
Strawberry quartz FAQ
Is strawberry quartz natural?
Yes, true strawberry quartz is natural quartz colored by iron mineral inclusions. Glass copies are also sold, often under the name cherry quartz.
Is strawberry quartz the same as rose quartz?
No. Both are pink quartz, but rose quartz gets its color from microscopic pink fibers, while strawberry quartz gets it from red iron minerals like hematite.
Is strawberry quartz rare?
Fine, evenly colored pieces are uncommon and cost more. Small chips and beads are affordable.
Is strawberry quartz the same as cherry quartz?

Is strawberry quartz water safe?
Yes. It's quartz, so a rinse won't harm it.
Which wrist do you wear a strawberry quartz bracelet on?
Many choose the left, closer to the heart, for a love stone.
How the red gets inside
Strawberry quartz grows like any quartz, from silica-rich water in cracks and cavities. Sometimes that water also carries iron, which settles out as microscopic crystals of hematite, and in some places goethite or lepidocrocite, in the same space where the quartz is growing. The quartz grows around them and locks them in. Where they're dense, the stone turns red. Where they're scattered, it's a soft pink sprinkled with dark specks, the "seeds" that give strawberry quartz its name.
